SEAMLESS LOOK
Second shift
Even when Rhode van Gessel Weiner's breakfast area
is off-duty, it’s still hard at work. A front-loading washer and dryer hidden in a
cabinet allow this space to double as a laundry room. In fact, combining the two
functions was as easy as removing the wall that once separated the breakfast
area from the laundry. Now there's more elbowroom at the breakfast table, and
the laundry spot is both front-and-center and out-of-the-way.
Pale yellow cabinets
topped with honed
black granite in the
breakfast/laundry
area match the
classic style of the
adjacent kitchen.
EASY ACCESS
Cabinet doors open
to fully expose the
washer and dryer
when needed. If you
can't conceal the
appliances inside
cabinetry, consider a
front-loading
washer like this one.
It has an outer door
that matches the
dryer and hides the
round glass door.
STRATEGIC SPOT
A laundry center
right off the kitchen
is convenient for
cleaning while
cooking and is
especially handy
for dish towels
and table linens.
COUNTER POINTS
One of the benefits
of front-loading
machines is the
counter space you
gain on top for
folding. Here, it
doubles as a buffet.
Hidden Assets
Save space with a well-placed
washer and dryer that tuck awa^
until laundry day.
